The beaver, Canada's national treasure, is in grave danger of losing his natural habitat to urban development. We at TRACS feel that people and beavers can, to a great extent, co-exist and that environmental concerns should always be worthy of careful consideration.

Therefore, we are taking a close look at what can be done to preserve Okanagan wetlands within urban and suburban areas. We do not approve of trapping and killing of wildlife. We support humane alternatives, such as the wrapping of trees, the use of "beaver deceivers" and "beaver bafflers" to maintain water flow in streams and to prevent flooding, and (when necessary) live-trapping and re-location. Much can be learned from observing beavers working in their natural habitat.
