The Responsible Animal Care Society

Compassion Fund Program

The Compassion Program provides assistance to many animals in the Kelowna area who would otherwise be without veterinary care, food and shelter.

Since 2008 TRACS has rescued at-risk rabbits from city streets.  Although we have an active adoption program, sanctuary-building has been necessary and our rescued rabbit population has now grown to over 750.  (Very few rabbit sightings have occurred lately, so we consider our rescue project to have been a success.)

We rescue homeless and feral cats, providing them with care (including sterilization) and fostering until homes can be found.

We assist low-income citizens with the cost of veterinary care. Often a cherished companion animal is the only family and “best friend” that an elderly or disabled person has, and we have observed that in many cases, day-to-day care and feeding is not an issue. However, when illness or injury occurs and bills mount high, the situation can become unmanageable. That’s when TRACS strives to help, and our efforts have kept companion animals healthy and numerous families together.

TRACS receives many weekly requests to assist with spaying, neutering and providing veterinary care for cherished animals. We endeavor to respond to as many requests as possible.

Thankfully, TRACS has built great relationships with some of the veterinary clinics, farriers, trainers, social services and care facilities in the surrounding area and we work with them to ensure the best care is given to the animals at a discounted price. These relationships not only assist TRACS with helping the animals but also help the family member requesting the assistance feel like there is hope and that TRACS will do all we can to help.

TRACS can make the difference in the lives of companion animals whose families cannot afford necessary veterinary bills. As such, TRACS is always accepting donations to manage our Compassion Program successfully. With your generous assistance, we would be able to continue helping the animals and low-income citizens.

TRACS is always in need for donations to keep this vital program going.
